The Beginning

The Wood-N-Tap is truly a Connecticut original. The two partners of this locally-owned restaurant group met in Connecticut in the mid 90's. Phil Barnett attended CCSU and spent his college days working at Joe’s Bar and Grill, and rented an apartment from Mike Hamlin. Together this duo founded the original Wood-N-Tap in Hartford in 2002.

The two partners of the Wood-N-Tap brought years of restaurant knowledge and experience skill to the table. In addition, Mike Hamlin's interest in real estate and construction is the key to finding suitable locations and transforming the restaurant. Phil Barnett's marketing expertise has made the Wood-N-Tap group one of the most visible restaurants in Connecticut.

Since the original Wood-N-Tap opened on Sisson Avenue in Hartford in 2002, the team has opened locations in Farmington, Southington, Rocky Hill, Vernon, Orange, Wallingford, Hamden and Newington. Enfield, which is slated to open in 2020, will be the group's 10th Wood-N-Tap location. Mike and Phil also launched a new concept in December of 2019 in Southington called Que Whiskey Kitchen, a wildly popular BBQ joint.
